چکیده

Background: NAP1/027 Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) has rarely been reported in China. Objectives: The objective of this study was to strengthen the understanding risk factors and outcomes CDI. Methods: A single-center, retrospective, case-control (1: 3) performed identify specific CDI using a group patients with (n = 20) age-matched control non-NAP1/027 60) within June 2018 August 2021. patient charts were thoroughly reviewed assess markers severity, factors, outcomes. Results: Out 272 stool specimens, 41 cases (15.07%) tested positive for NAP1 strain C. polymerase chain reaction. Among these 20 fulfilled inclusion criteria. No significant difference observed between groups disease length hospital stay, or mortality. Logistic regression analysis revealed that acquiring included hospitalization 90 days before diagnosis high C-reactive protein level ± 3 detection. Conclusions: In large non-epidemic tertiary China, strains more prevalent previous CRP than strains.

NAP1 strain type predicts outcomes from Clostridium difficile infection.

BACKGROUND Studies are conflicting regarding the importance of the fluoroquinolone-resistant North American pulsed-field gel electrophoresis type 1 (NAP1) strain in Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) outcome. We describe strain types causing CDI and evaluate their association with patient outcomes. METHODS CDI cases were identified from population-based surveillance. Multivariate regressio...

Risk Factors for Recurrent Clostridium difficile Infection in Pediatric Inpatients.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to identify the risk factors during the incident Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) episode, associated with developing recurrent CDI within 60 days, among hospitalized children that may be amenable to intervention. METHODS This was a retrospective cohort study of pediatric patients hospitalized at a freestanding children's hospital from January 1, 2...

Measuring the impact of Clostridium difficile Infection with the NAP1 strain on severity and mortality.

TO THE EDITOR—I read with interest the manuscript by See et al [1], titled “NAP1 strain type predicts outcomes from Clostridium difficile infection [CDI],” and seek here to quantify the potential impact on outcomes. Several studies have suggested there is a causal link between infection with the North American pulsed-field gel electrophoresis type 1 (NAP1) strain of C. difficile and severe CDI ...

Clinical characterization and risk factors of Clostridium difficile infection in elderly patients in a Chinese hospital.

INTRODUCTION Clostridium difficile is a common cause of nosocomial diarrhea, especially in elderly patients. This study aimed to analyze the clinical features and assess the risk factors associated with Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in elderly hospitalized patients. METHODOLOGY A retrospective case-control study was conducted among elderly hospitalized patients (> 60 years of age) in ...

Risk factors for Clostridium difficile infection in HIV-infected patients

BACKGROUND Clostridium difficile infection is a healthcare-associated infection resulting in significant morbidity. Although immunosuppression is associated with Clostridium difficile infection acquisition and adverse outcomes, the epidemiology of Clostridium difficile infection in HIV-infected patients has been little studied in the era of antiretroviral therapy. This study identifies the risk...
